Flávia Darcie is a Brazilian Classical Singer and Musician based in NYC. She holds a Master’s degree in Vocal Performance from NYU and a Bachelor’s degree in Conducting from FAAM in São Paulo. "The Avenue" is Flávia's first documentary project as she's a veteran of São Paulo's Carnaval, with over 7 years of experience parading as a member in 3 different Samba Schools.
Her relationships in the world of Carnaval are vital to telling the story of The Avenue. Her interviews with Barroca have shed light on the people behind the costumes that have previously been overlooked. Driven by her Brazilian heritage, Flávia is dedicated to promoting Latin American culture in New York and elevating underrepresented communities.
As a singer, Flávia has her own private voice studio and she is a member of The Opera Collective, Dell'Arte Opera Ensemble and IBOC. She was recently seen in La Traviata with City Lyric Opera and in the premiere of Juana by Carla Lucero playing the Title Role with Dell'Arte Opera Ensemble.
